Protestants have always argued against St. Paul.

Protestants have always argued against St. Paul. We see that when we read St. Paul. Protestants begin by denying the simple fact:

St. Paul was a Catholic Bishop! He Founded Catholic Churches. We know they were Catholic Churches because they sent Catholic representatives to Catholic Councils for hundreds of years! We know they were Catholic Councils because they were convened by Catholic Successors to Peter.

Peter was the only man to whom Jesus Decreed:

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

St. Paul has this to say about Protestants in one short section of 2 Timothy:

1. 2 Timothy 1:13, “Keep as your pattern the sound teaching you have heard from me.”

2. 1:15, Early Protestants are identified: “As you know, Phygelus and Hermogenes and all the others from Asia refuse to have anything to do with me.”

3. 2: 2, “You have heard everything I preach in public; hand it on to reliable people so they in turn will be able to teach others.”

4. 2:13 should be frightening to Protestants: “If we hold firm, then we shall reign with Him. If we disown Him, then He will disown us.”

5. 2:14, “. . There is to be no wrangling about words; all that this ever achieves is the destruction of those who are listening.”

6. 2:16, “Have nothing to do with pointless philosophical discussions – they only lead further and further from true religion.”

7. 2:18, More early Protestants are mentioned: Hymenaeus and Philetus, “the men who have gone right away from the truth. . .”

8. 2: 25, “Avoid these futile and silly speculations.”

9. 3:12, “. . anybody who tries to live in devotion to Christ is certain to be attacked; while these wicked imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and deceived themselves.”

10. 3:15, St. Paul tells us there is no contradiction in Scripture: “All Scripture is inspired by God and can profitably be used . . .”

11. 4:1-5 includes St. Paul’s prediction of even more Protestants! “The time is sure to come when, far from being content with solid teaching, people will be avid for the latest novelty and collect themselves a whole series of teachings according to their own tastes; and then, instead of listening to the truth they will turn to myths.”

Would St. Paul have predicted forty five thousand Protestant denominations?

Toward the end of Chapter 4, St. Paul mentions two more Protestants! “Demas has deserted me for love of this life. . . Alexander the Coppersmith has done me a lot of harm . . he has been bitterly contesting everything that we say.”

+

Still, St. Paul asks to be sure he remains obedient to Catholic Truth: “bring . . . me the scrolls, especially the parchment ones.”

Catholics are blessed! We follow St. Paul and the unchanging teachings of The Faith Handed Down From The Apostles.

Protestants have always argued against St. Paul. They still do!
