Catholics call for obedience.

Today’s Reading is from Mt. 7:21, 24-27,   “Jesus said to his disciples:  ‘Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.'”

The smartest of us ask:  “What must I do to be among those able to “enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”?  Over 45,000 Marketing Plan Denominations cause confusion about who will get into Heaven.  Some say, “Everyone who says ‘I believe in Jesus!’ gets to Heaven!”  Others insist “Only those Baptized by Total Immersion are saved!”

There is a lot of silliness.  Catholics call for obedience.

Jesus is clear about who may get into Heaven:  “Everyone who listens to these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.

Catholics are smart enough to read that and realize that Jesus did not insert  “some of” in front of  “these words of mine”.   Catholics correctly see the unwritten “all” that precedes “these words of mine”.

Jesus is clear.  To get into Heaven, we must be among those who hear “(all) these words of Mine and acts on them.”  Among (all) these words of Mine” is the clear call to Catholic Communion He repeated EIGHTEEN TIMES:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

Catholics call for obedience.  We shudder in horror at the consequences of ignoring Jesus.   Our Catholic duty is clear:  We must encourage obedience to (all) these words of mine”, not just the easy parts!

He tells us why!  “And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.   The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house.   And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
