Catholics know! “Golden Statues” are our test!

Today’s Reading is from Daniel 3:14-20, 91-92, 95. It applies to us! Today!

“King Nebuchadnezzar said: ‘Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you will not serve my god, or worship the golden statue that I set up?’

Rulers hate for their subjects to obey anyone but them! The King told them what he would to to the disobedient!

‘Be ready now to fall down and worship the statue I had made, whenever you hear the sound of the trumpet, flute, lyre, harp, psaltery, bagpipe, and all the other musical instruments; otherwise, you shall be instantly cast into the white-hot furnace; . . ”

Then, the King asked what every ruler wants to know! “and who is the God who can deliver you out of my hands?”

~

In every age, “Golden Statues” demand worship of earthly powers. Those who do not “worship” at those altars of earthly obedience are threatened and often punished.

Why does this happen? All “Golden Statues” are a test. God uses “Golden Statues” to separate His people from those who disobey His First Commandment:

“Thou shall have no other gods before Me.”

~

Worshiping the “Golden Statues” brings temporary rewards to most.

And, eternal suffering to disobedient souls.

Those who believe in God know that.

His obedient people are always hated by those who worship their generation’s “Golden Statues”.

Catholics know! “Golden Statues” are our test!
