How do we see The Son? Weekly Reading, Sunday July 14, 2013

Once in a while, a Passage chosen by The Church for that day’s Mass illustrates one of Catholic Fundamentalism’s ideas about The Holy Trinity.  We consider The Father as The Loving Programmer.  He, with the power to program in actual particles and energies, wrote and downloaded The Creation Program.

How do we see The Son?  Catholic Fundamentalism sees and understands The Son as The Program.  The Program’s love for us was so great that He took human form and came to earth that those who would be saved might have the opportunity to do so.  Today’s Reading includes COL 1: 15-20

Christ Jesus is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of all creation.
For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth,
the visible and the invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers;
all things were created through him and for him.
He is before all things,
and in him all things hold together.
He is the head of the body, the church.
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,
that in all things he himself might be preeminent.
For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell,
and through him to reconcile all things for him,
making peace by the blood of his cross
through him, whether those on earth or those in heaven.

That is a hard passage, but it is made easier to understand by Catholic Fundamentalism’s approach.  “For in Him were created all things in Heaven and on earth” makes it clear that He is The Program.  He is all encompassing.  “and in Him all things hold together”.

Our analysis could not be complete if we did not note that “He is the head of the body, The Church.”  Many heed, and find deeper knowledge of Him, and themselves, in His Church, obedient through the ages.  Others do not.  The Garden is self-weeding.
