Though they started out in protest,  Protestants used to be better.

How did Protestants get started? In the 1500s, greedy profiteers overthrew The Catholic Church.

Supporters were given huge land-holdings when property was taken from Catholic monasteries, convents, and churches.  Vast, valuable properties were given to those favored by the King. Death squads backed up the demands of the greedy. In England, alone, over 70,000 were killed, just for being Catholic.  In Ireland and Scotland, a million more were killed.

Look-alike Lutheran and Anglican ceremonies replaced the Catholic Mass. They did retain surface similarities, sometimes with the same vestments stolen from Catholic priests.  “We don’t want to make things too different, or people might get upset.”

And, Protestants kept some Catholic Teaching. Between the 1500s and 1930s, Protestant morality reflected Catholic Teaching on birth control, divorce, abortion, and sex outside of lawful marriage.  Most of the Protestant denominations stayed faithful to some Catholic morality and teaching.

In the 1930s, cracks appeared. Enlightened Protestants embraced the popular idea that “Birth control is all right and divorce isn’t that bad.”

“Who are we to judge?” enlightened clergymen would say slowly and thoughtfully, brows furrowed deeply to show how intelligent they wanted to appear.

Now, there are an incredible, and ridiculous, 45,000 identifiable Protestant denominations.  Most were begun by ambitious men with Marketing Plans.  They wanted their own income streams.   Today, nearly all the 45,000 Protestant groups accept abortion, abortion-causing birth control, divorce, and other practices previous Protestants prohibited.

Is it so bad that there are 45,000 “Christian” groups?  Yes.

If all Pro-Life people were Catholic, abortion could be stopped.  And, if people were Catholic, their souls could gain access to “the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven” by humbly heeding:  “Verily, verily I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

When Pro-Life people remain in churches or denominations too afraid of losing members to condemn sin and death, we cannot stop the killing of innocents.

Protestants used to be better.
