It is a sin to tell a lie. The Bible is clear. “Thou shall not bear false witness.” That is a hard command! We are all tempted to lie about many things. What is our favorite lie? “I am a good person.”

Pride drives us to think we are better than we are. That’s why our favorite lie is “I am a good person.” That vanity is supported by nearly everything we think, say, and do.

“I am a good person.” inspires most of our thoughts, words, and deeds.

~

What “good” thing hides in that vanity! The word “good”! That tells us something important about ourselves. We are able to tell “good” from “bad”!

To find out if we are a “good person”, we ask a question. “How often did I praise my thoughts, words, and deeds in the last hour?”

~

Every deed begins with words. Every word begins with thoughts. Catholics watch our thoughts. When we catch ourselves saying or thinking “I am a good person.” we know what we are doing! We are comparing ourselves to other people.

Catholics know! We must compare our thoughts, words, and deeds to those of Jesus Christ and His Holy Saints!

~

That comparison lets us see if we are headed in the best direction. Catholics know! “We want our thoughts, words, and deeds to guide us to Heaven!”

There is only one way to get into Heaven! We must strive to obey The Teachings of Jesus Christ. Then, we may be among “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”

We are surrounded by people who willfully disobey Teachings of Jesus Christ. They have rejected the only “keys to The Kingdom of Heaven” that He left on earth!

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

Catholics know. Obeying Catholic Teachings puts us closer to God than mindlessly repeating our favorite words! “I am a good person.”

Pride leads many to hate God, His Teachings, their neighbors, and His Church.
