Catholics respect The Bible and The Prophets. The Prophet Elijah saw God. 1 Kings 19: 11-13 tells us that God showed Himself to Elijah.

After “mountain-smashing winds” and powerful “earthquakes”, God made Himself visible to Elijah. He was as no bigger than “a puff of wind”. The Prophet’s report prompts us to ask: “How small could God be?” We do see an actual “puff of wind” made visible by a smoker in the picture.

Was the “puff of wind” that Elijah saw larger or smaller than that portrayed in the picture. It is a starting place.

Catholics explore the question “How small could God be?” with these thoughts in mind:

1. The Bible is always right.

2. God’s Prophets always told the truth.

3. God did show Himself to Elijah as no bigger than “a puff of wind”.

We see that there are trillions of atoms in the pictured “puff of wind”. Trillions more are invisible. We wonder: “Is our indivisible human soul larger than an electron? Is it as large as an atom?”

And, we wonder if “the puff of wind” that Elijah saw was God showing how He preceded the “mountain-smashing winds” and “earthquake” that followed His Creation of The Universe.

Isaiah is telling us The Creator is far, far greater than His Creation! A “mountain smashing wind” is an incredibly powerful force. It has the power of huge nuclear weapons combined with giant super-lasers!

Catholics know that God showed Elijah, and us, to not be distracted from Him by His Creation. Catholics believe in God so much that we even obey the clear call to Catholic Communion He repeated 14 times:

“If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have live in you.”

Is God a Living Cloud of “Holy Electrons”? Is He sending endlessly regenerating parts of Himself into the Wine and Wafer of Catholic Communion, providing The Miracle of Transubstantiation!

Protestants don’t God is powerful enough to provide a Church and a priesthood with the power to preside over The Miracle of Transubstantiation.

Protestants miss the lesson in “the puff of wind”.
